St Mary’s is a village church and we aim to serve our local community, providing a warm welcome to all who join us at a service or for any other event.
At the heart of the church is the Christian faith, which gives meaning and purpose to life and strengthens our relationships with others and with God.
We offer a wide variety of services, both formal and informal through out the year, including open air services, and other special services. We are fortunate to have a well regarded robed choir and exceptionally fine organ to lead our worship, as well as a music group which plays at Family Services and for other all-age worship.
‘It’s a very friendly, inclusive church with great music and choir, and is the spiritual heart of the village. It provides a peaceful sanctuary to worship where God’s love is apparent and His Word spoken’
In the words of ….. Richard Hughes
Our mission giving is very important to us and you can see on our mission page details about those that we support, and particularly our link with St Faith’s, Budiriro in the Harare diocese of Zimbabwe.
‘Church is a place that makes me feel happy because I can talk to God, pray and learn about Him. I also like seeing my friends and having a biscuit and playing afterwards’
In the words of ….. Jake Haspell (11)
We want to reach out to others locally too and our magazine ‘Village News’ (which is delivered free to every home in the Parish) is one way we try to do this. (You can see selected articles on this website.)
We have strong links with our local church school at Platt and the children come to special services at the church three times a term. Many also come to our children’s clubs on Good Friday and at Harvest, or to our after school club which runs each year.
There is, inevitably, much more that makes up our church than this brief introduction can cover. Why not come and find out for yourself? We would be delighted to welcome you
