Welcome to St Mary's Platt

The excellent acoustics in the church make St Mary’s Platt a great venue for concerts of all types. We regularly host concerts by the Cantate Choir, the Vigo Singers, the Sackville Singers and the Kent Chamber Choir, as well as concerts by our own choir and local musicians.

Music in Worship

Worship is led by a four-part choir and organ, and also by a music group during Family Services and other informal worship.

The music group is made up of musicians of all ages and we are very keen for children to be involved (they should be able to read music however). Contact Bridgett Jeffrey if you are interested in being a part of the music group. (See Who to Contact)

We are fortunate to have a strong four part choir under the directorship of Sarah de Mattos. The choir contributes to the worship at weekly services, as well as at occasional choral evensong, through an Easter devotional service, various seasonal anthems and through the annual Nine Lessons and Carols. See Who to Contact if you are interested in joining the choir.

Sarah works in partnership with our organist Sara Skyrme to enhance and complement the worship of the whole congregation.┬áThe organ at St Mary’s Platt is a particularly fine instrument and you can read more about it here.

Music Recording

The church is frequently used for recording CDs, due to its quiet location, and ideal acoustics. If you are interested in using the church for recording, please contact Jane Sankey. (See Who to Contact)
